The Red Spider, written in April 1948, was lost until 1975 when records were found of what appeared to be a hitherto unknown Doc Savage novel.
Finally in 1978 the only surviving copy of the manuscript was located among Kenneth Robeson's papers.
The Red Spider stands as a high-water mark in the series.
