Here’s what happens to your information on LikeReadr.
If you just browse
You don’t need an account to use LikeReadr, and browsing sets no cookies. The server writes down which pages are asked for and when (including what’s typed into the search box), so problems can be fixed; it doesn’t record your IP address, your browser, or who you are.
If you sign in
Signing in with Google gives LikeReadr your Google account ID, your email address and your name. Nothing else. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days.
What you do while signed in is stored with your account so recommendations can use it.
What it’s used for
Only to run the site: keeping you signed in, and remembering what you’ve marked. Nothing is sold or used for advertising, and nothing is shared unless you share it yourself.
Sharing a list
You can share a list, your library, or a tag with a link. Anyone with the link can see the books on it, any notes you wrote on that list, your first name, and your thumbs if you turn them on. Nothing else: never your email or private notes. Search engines are asked not to list these pages. Turn a link off and it stops working right away.
A gift link also leaves out books you own or have read. When someone says they’re getting you a book, LikeReadr keeps that, with a name if they give one, so others don’t buy it too. You never see it. Their browser keeps a cookie so they can change their mind.
Sharing a household library
If you join a household, its members see which books you own and your first name, and you see theirs. Nothing else: not what you’re reading, your thumbs, notes or lists. Leave the household and that stops right away.
If you’re an author
If you claim your author page, we keep the code we gave you, where we found it or what you told us to check it’s you, and a curator’s decision. What you write on your page (a bio, links, news) is public, marked as yours. Delete your account and your claim and what you wrote are removed.
Where it’s kept
On LikeReadr’s server in the United States.
Deleting your account
“Delete my account” on your account page removes your account and everything you’ve marked, right away.
Children
LikeReadr isn’t meant for children under 13, and they shouldn’t sign in.
