About LikeReadr

LikeReadr suggests what to read next. Start from a book you liked, and it finds others like it, with the emphasis on books by other authors: the kind of suggestion you’d get from a bookshop owner who has read everything.

How it works

Each book is compared with the others by what it’s about, what kind of book it is and what readers say about it, and the closest matches are worked out ahead of time, once a month. Readers who sign in can mark what they’ve read and suggest tags, which improves the matches for everyone.

Some series, genre and publication details come from the Internet Speculative Fiction Database (ISFDB), used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. LikeReadr uses this and other information to improve the recommendation data and has changed it.

The site is set in Fraunces and Source Sans 3, both under the SIL Open Font License.

The barcode scanner uses ZXing for JavaScript, under the Apache License 2.0.
