The Wanderers seriesbook 1 of 2Next:The Water of Life(1997) →

An historical saga that blends fact and fiction with a fusion between early Celtic history and fantasy. Mawn is a young lad raised among folk who call themselves the Feni. When his island home Eirinn is threatened, the High-King and his Druid Council must find a way to protect their ancient traditions from the might of the Roman Empire and choose Mawn for this immense task. Includes lists suggesting pronunciation of words and names, both Gaelic and non-Gaelic. This is the author's first novel. The volume became the first of three-volume 'The Wanderers' series. The other volumes are 'The Song of the Earth' and 'The Water of Life', and there is a prequel, 'The Meeting of the Waters'.
