No doubt Creed Walker returned the sentiments. It wasn't exactly a picnic landing in jail, hiding a cache of gold, and running from a horde of Mexican bandits. Besides, he knew Anne-Marie hadn't meant to shoot him in the leg.
Like it or not, they needed each other. A bargain bordering on blackmail ensured she'd get back to her lovely larcenous sisters at Mercy Flats and that Creed would deliver the gold to the Union army. And along the way, if they didn't kill each other, the untamable warrior and the inscrutable thief might just discover love.
