Joseph and Emma: A Love Story (Volume 1)

This novel tells the story of Emma Hale and Joseph Smith, from their first meeting in the early nineteenth century through their courtship and early marriage. Emma's family in Pennsylvania doubts the young man who claims to have received ancient records, and she must weigh her own faith and feelings against their objections. As the couple's life grows entwined with the early days of the new church, the story follows their hopes, hardships and devotion to one another. It is a love story set against the unsettled beginnings of a religious movement.
