Each time Alfie tries to go to bed, he is sure he has seen a sign of spring. First he spots fluffy white "butterflies" dancing in the air, but Mother Bear sees only snowflakes. Then branches filled with glistening "birds" catch his eye. Mother Bear bustles him away from the icicles. No change to his lovely woodland home escapes Alfie's attention, but even he can't escape sleep for long. And when a beautiful golden spring arrives in the mountains, a certain young bear cub is caught napping.
