Health Psychology

This textbook introduces undergraduates to the study of how the mind and body interact with illness and wellbeing. Its newest edition reflects how much the field has expanded since its early days, with a growing body of research. A central idea is that health results from biological, psychological and social influences working together. Researchers are now mapping the biological routes through which stress can harm the body, and how close relationships and supportive ties can soften that damage. The aim is to present these advances clearly, engagingly and in a way that brings the discipline's complexity within reach of students.
