When Atarah learns that her father intends to sacrifice her nephew to the god Ninlel, she flees with the baby and a beloved slave. Pursued by the evil Dagaar and at risk of falling prey to one of the Nephilim, she gets lost in underground labyrinth, battles through an ash storm and barely escapes the leader of a community of escaped slaves.
