Maid for Mayhem

Gretchen Gallen is a young financial wizard and a rising star in Charlotte's business scene. But through a traumatic event, Gretchen soon finds herself tossed from the corporate ladder and into an adjoining wealthy rural enclave through her connections in a wildlife organization. There she takes up residence in the guest house of Leslie, an elderly widow who is losing her vision. When Leslie dies, suddenly Gretchen finds new friendships with ribald Lucy and Mona,a hypochondriac with unexpected gifts for spontaneous distractions. Then there is Jackson, Lucy's partner in pranking Gretchen and trying to get her together with any of the delectable men. Add to the mix three interesting and wildly different beaus; an Irish Vetararian who vies for Gretchen's attention and meets her in a hilarious way, her English stepbrother whose family tie to Gretchen lasted about as long as their parents extremly brief marrage did, and Jason a deputy with a degree from a rival college and a determination to give up his womanizing for Gretchen. But the more Jason tries to protect her, the more annoyed Gretchen becomes. She has been through too much to need saving and isn't ready for any man to complicate her life.
