The Yard Sale

A message from the main character, Jennifer Riley:

Ever have a yard sale? I hadn't. Not until I desperately needed cash. I had lost my really good job due to the recession, and my husband had left me for another woman. That's not all. The bank foreclosed on my house. Let's just say I was broke.

I had to make enough money at my yard sale to finance a trip to New Orleans where I hoped a new job and a fresh start awaited me.

What I didn't know was that my yard sale would become legendary and change my life forever.

People are still talking about it in Clayburn, Mississippi. If you want to know what really happened that unforgettable Saturday, read my story.

By the way, here are a few of my tips for having a memorable yard sale:

*Early Birds do arrive at dawn, so be ready.

*Hire Buddy to fix the karaoke machine and turn your front lawn into Woodstock 2012.

*Have Gail send the pest control man across the street where the competition is having a sale, too.

*Stand up to Tightwads. How can someone ask you if you'll take less than a quarter? Seriously.

*Let a kid named Bucky Sue wow the customers by singing just like Loretta Lynn.

*Try not to make a fool of yourself when Prince Charming arrives.

*Most importantly, realize some things are worth keeping.
