The First Book of Adam and Eve

This ancient religious narrative follows Adam and Eve from their expulsion from paradise to the moment their son Cain kills his brother Abel. It begins with the couple's early home in a cave, their struggles with hunger, temptation and grief, and the repeated appearances of Satan, who tries to lead them astray. It also recounts the births of their sons and of twin daughters, including Cain's intense attachment to his sister Luluwa, a match their parents want to prevent in favour of Abel. Told as a story rather than as scripture, it expands on episodes the Bible only touches on and keeps a strong moral focus on temptation and family rivalry.
