This study looks at how seventeenth-century Baptists and Pedobaptists, both of whom wrote extensively about covenants, approached the question of baptism. Denault examines the theological writings of both camps, showing the broad agreement they shared about covenant structure and the point where they parted ways. The central dividing line, he argues, lay in how each side understood the New Covenant itself. Baptists held that Christ had already fulfilled every condition on which the covenant rested, so its blessings reach believers without any further requirement. Working through the original documents, the author lays out a Bible-centred covenantal case for believers' baptism and places it within present-day discussions of covenant and baptism.
