The Brilliant Stage The Story of Frances Walsingham

A historically researched biographical novel on the life of Frances Walsingham, the only child of Sir Francis Walsingham, Queen Elizabeth the First's Secretary of State and Spymaster. She survived the massacre of St.Bartholomew's Eve in Paris together with Sir Philip Sidney, whom she later married. After he died following the battle of Zutphen, she married the Earl of Essex, the Queen's favourite, beheaded for treason eleven years later. Within two years, Frances became the wife of the Irish Earl of Clanricarde. She was a survivor but must have had, besides intelligence, rare charm or beauty to have married three of the most charismatic men of the age.
