Enchanted

Ariella was raised in a realm where magic is everyday and machines are feared. Airships, explosives and the strange power called fusion hold no appeal for her, least of all after a past brush with technology nearly cost her life. When Davin, the heir to Elitia's throne and a man she has quietly cared for, is seized by operatives from the Avan Empire, she has no choice but to cross the border into the enemy's capital. Her best hope is Everett, a hired blade who specialises in dangerous extractions. He wants nothing to do with a sorceress, since magic once killed many of his companions. The reward she offers is too generous to refuse, though, and the pair must race against an enemy whose plans remain hidden. This is the opening volume of the Sorcery and Science series, a fantasy adventure about magic colliding with machinery.
