Bear Creek

Sage Country seriesbook 1 of 1

John Everett Sage, a former Texas Ranger, gets off a train for a brief rest and steps into a situation that reshapes his future. He saw a brutal killing and soon finds himself hired as a deputy town marshal. Along the way he meets relatives he never knew, members of the Romani travelling people. After the marshal is killed, John is named to lead the law in Bear Creek, a Colorado settlement on the eastern slope of the Rockies. He recruits old comrades from his Ranger days to serve under him, among them Yellow Horse, a tracker of mixed Comanche and Cherokee descent. Told from John's point of view, the story immerses readers in frontier life at the close of the 1800s. It blends hard action with moments of humor as a man searches for his place in the world and tries to act justly, show kindness, and live humbly before his faith.
