The Bloodstone Affair

Bloodstone Manor in Yorkshire has a reputation as the most notorious haunted house in England, its cold rooms full of old legends. Gavin St. John has built his career investigating the restless dead, so when he is called to the estate he expects ghosts and nothing more. He does not expect Carlotta Stone, the woman living there, who is unsettled by strange events she cannot halt. Her attraction to him deepens quickly, as she is drawn into an old quarrel between two lovers who once tried to reunite through the manor's spirits and, in the process, through Carlotta herself. Yet a malevolent force still holds a grudge from a betrayal that stretched across generations, and it has not let the past rest.
