Their aimless search for a safe place to settle brings them to the Parkers, a group of brothers who are far better at survival than Reagan has ever seen. The brothers are also looking after their young sister, and they agree to take the two women along in search of a zombie-free haven. The road is full of danger from the undead, from armed militias of men who prey on others, and from suspicious settlements. As the group travels on, Reagan finds herself drawn to Hendrix, the second-eldest brother, but in a world ending around them, love has to fit in between the fights and the hunting.
